Welcome to Yare Boat Club

Welcome to Yare Boat Club, the oldest rowing club in Norwich – and possibly Norfolk.

Based on the River Yare at Thorpe Island, we are a friendly, fully equipped club with up-to-date equipment and facilities.

Members of the club are adults of all ages and a range of experience, from those who row recreationally, to others who train and compete in the various events hosted in the Eastern Region and nationally – often obtaining fantastic results.

Rowing is a great form of exercise for all round fitness and we have a full programme of fun social activities throughout the year, both on and off the water.

Members of all ages & experience enjoy recreational rowing in a range of singles, doubles, quads & an eight

Row to compete

We provide the competitive athlete with up-to-date equipment, facilities & training opportunities

Due to popular demand, we are holding a second L2R course in 2026

Free Taster Sessions Sunday 21st June 2 hours

2 day L2R couse 28th June & 19th July 10am-4pm

Capsize drill 26th July (in a pool) 2 hour session
